Jaime, this is a really excellent interview. You rarely hear about the connection between health/fitness and personal success and wealth. I’m sure this topic will touch a nerve with a lot of people.
Thanks for all your great content – keep up the great work!
Thanks Kent! And yes – I’m not perfect at this either so it hits a nerve for me too! Though it’s progress not perfect 🙂
Wow, this was a great interview! Love this.
I have a question for John… he mentioned the fish oil as a likely useful supplement. There are so many kinds and types of fish oils out there as a supplement. Any suggestions on what to look for?
Great question! I looked into that too since I got better quality fish oil right after this interview 🙂 I got molecularly distilled after reading more about it. But maybe I can see if John can chime in on this too!
Carlson’s makes a top quality fish oil… I’ve been using Vitacost lately myself since it was much cheaper… still distilled and http://www.ConsumerLab.com has shown VitaCost to test well, not in regards to fish oil in particular, just their house brand.
Hey Andy and Jamie,
Jamie: Loved your podcast with John Berardi; I’ve been introduced to your show by him and I look forward to learning a lot!

Precision Nutrition (PN) Approved Supplements: http://www.precisionnutrition.com/supplements
A Couple quick Notes:
– The supplement you choose doesn’t have to be on the PN approved supplement list. There are so many supplements out there (some great, some not so great), but JB and his crew do not have enough time/resources to test all of them.
– Fish oil: Liquid fish oil is usually preferred because it’s easier to get the recommended dose (and some capsules are cut with other cheaper oils). JB usually recommends 1 gram of fish oil per percent body fat (up to 30 percent body fat.) He recommends this for two weeks and then he recommends that you cut the dose in half.
For example, if you have 20% body fat, you would take 20 grams of fish oil for the first two weeks (4 Teaspoons). After two weeks, you would take 10 grams of fish oil (2 teaspoons). A teaspoon of oil (any oil) = 5 grams. A tablespoon (15 g) is three teaspoons. So, if you are 20 percent body fat you would be taking 4 teaspoons of fish oil to get your 20 grams for the first two weeks and then 2 teaspoons of fish oil to get your 10 grams from thereon.
You don’t have to worry about DHA and EPA (specific omega 3s in fish oil) if you are taking a supplement that is just fish oil (plus lemon or orange flavoring, so it doesn’t taste horrible :-). Look at the ingredients list and make sure that the oil is sourced from small fish like sardines, anchovies, mackerel etc. This is to ensure that the fish oil is not contaminated with heavy metals (e.g. mercury) that are found in much higher amounts in predatory fish (i.e. they eat smaller fish and heavy metals accumulate in their tissue — this is called biomagnification.)
Hope that helps,

Jaime:
That was a really good interview. I’m messing around with different fitness and nutrition options post WDS. I was like, “I’m going Paleo and jumping all in.” This podcast gave me some great perspective on ways to do it so it sticks.
I really love the slow and steady approach and the start with what you are lacking, before moving forward.
Keep doing what you do Jaime!
Awesome!! I totally will 😉 Let me know how it goes too!
Hey Bruny,
Here is a great article by JB that will help you decide which diet is best for you:

Hi Jaime- I really learned a lot from the interview with Dr. Berardi. I recently stumbled across your podcast and love your site.
How can I find the transcript for the interview and others?
I already signed up for the 3 habits of all successful millionaires.
Thanks,
Joe
I never really thought about the correlation of doing well in business and your nutrition and exercise. It makes a lot of sense though.
Is yogurt a good probiotic supplement or do you need it in a pill?
