All Recommended Books by Millionaires
When I first launched “Eventual Millionaire” back in March 2010, I did so by announcing a goal of becoming a millionaire on my terms, which included to be debt-free, live a lifestyle I wanted, and be able to pursue my passions while building a net worth with two commas in it. “I didn’t really care” when I’d get that second comma in my net worth, as long as I got there on my terms and lived a life I was excited about once I made it.
Because I knew one of the best ways to achieve any goal is to get advice from people who already achieved that goal, I began doing that right away. Since then, I’ve interviewed over 350 millionaires and billionaires in order to learn from their successes (and mistakes). You can read or listen to all of those millionaire and billionaire interviews right here.
In those interviews, each of millionaire and billionaire shared their best advice for building a successful business and living a life that matters. They also each recommended at least one book they described as “life-changing.” I’ve listed each of those life-changing books for you in this post and even organized them by topic!
In reviewing those 350+ interviews to put together this list for you, I noticed five things I hadn’t noticed before.
First, this is the “ultimate” reading list for anyone looking to follow in the footsteps of the 350+ millionaires and billionaires I’ve interviewed. Just reading through the titles of these books is inspiring. The fact that these were recommended by some of the most successful people in the world makes it that much more valuable to an aspiring Eventual Millionaire.
Second, millionaires and billionaires don’t just focus on business tactics. A large number of the books they recommended focus on personal development, goal setting, leadership, vision, mindset, productivity, and more. Very few of them focus solely on business tactics. That tells me your mindset and personal fulfillment are just as important to your success as the tactics you use in your business.
Third, the vast majority of books that millionaires and billionaires consider life-changing discuss just 12 topics. An overwhelming majority of the 170+ books on this list discuss customer service, finance, goal setting, hiring/human resources, leadership, marketing, personal development, productivity, sales, starting a business, systems/processes, or visioning. In other words, if you want to follow in the footsteps of some of the most successful people in the world, it’s probably a good idea to read up on these 12 topics (or at least have people around you to help you with these things).
Fourth, not very many millionaires and billionaires described finance books as life-changing. In fact, less than 10% of the books recommended are finance books. More millionaires and billionaires recommended books about leadership, marketing, personal development, productivity, sales, or starting a business. That’s good news for the math haters.
Finally, although several books were recommended by more than one millionaire or billionaire (Here’s a list of the 16 most frequently recommended books) over 170 books made the list. That reinforces two important points. First, there’s no “one right way” to build a business or life that matters. Second, there’s no “one book” that you must follow in order to succeed. If one book about a particular subject matter doesn’t resonate with you, keep scrolling and you’ll find more great book recommendations on that topic recommended by another one of the most successful people in the world.
Without a doubt, after listening to or reading the interviews, the best next step to continue to learn from the 350+ millionaires and billionaires I interviewed is to read the books they described as life-changing.
Whether it’s personal development, systems/processes, goal setting, leadership, sales, marketing, or another topic, these books can help change your business or life like they did for the millionaires and billionaires who recommended them.
Happy reading! Have you read any of them? If so, which is your favorite?
Have any already changed your life for the better?
