  • Hey Jaime!

Wow! Amazing timing and sweet advice! This was really great. I wrote you some months ago asking if you could interview a woman, an artist, a black female millionaire…(maybe you’ll find the latter one day soon). Still, I really relate to Bridgette’s journey and outlook. Her story reaffirmed the plan I’m about to execute.

See, your show has been really influential in adjusting my mindset to help me grow my business and become clearer about what I really want to do, despite all the obstacles and limitations in my life. I wanted to share that I really applied some of the advice I learned listening to your show.

At the end of 2016 going right into early 2017, I got kicked out my art/youtube studio in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and my Pop-Up Art Party business had flatlined because my focus had been on completing my non-profit organization’s project of painting a 72ft mural dedicated to A Tribe Called Quest with a team of young adult apprentices. I thought the community would be compelled by the accomplishment of the youth I developed, and would donate to help keep things going. Wrong! Non-profit is just that, and I was demoralized because I believed that we’d be able to fundraise enough at the celebration, and I hadn’t focused on building a clientele to last once summer ended.

Anyway, after using the cold, slow winter months to seek out expert strategies, including listening to this podcast, I made the bottom-line the main decision factor over my creative wishes and preferences and in April I began making over $5k for four consecutive months. Now I’ve reinvested my profits to rent a small studio in Harlem, NYC–where the market is prime for art and culture. I will be able to bring in interested people to see my art and the art of others in an intimate setting that will add value to the price of the works.

I began training to be an artist at 13, earning scholarships to attend elite schools. Over 17 years I have been a painter and 10 years a graphic designer. But also a single mom with two small boys for a decade. For years I have had my paintings stacked against the walls, tucked away in corners. Entire bodies of paintings hardly seen because I lacked the space and opportunity to showcase them for the length of time needed to make sales.

So Jaime, on Friday I get my keys and face a new challenge of launching an art gallery. You know I am so excited to finally be able to court the B-C-Ds (buyer-collector-dealers) on my terms!

This podcast came right on time, answering questions I have been pondering as I now reorganize my art business from painting faces to selling art, launching the Billie Basquiat Gallery+Playspace!

I will continue to listen to your podcasts Jaime and continue to tell my friends and associates about the gold nuggets you share!

    Until next time,
    ~Jocelyn M. Goode

    WOOHOO!

  • Greetings… I am James from Bedford Texas, I have been on the lookout for some artworks lately in regards to I and my
wife’s anniversary which is just around the corner. I came across some of your works which i found quite impressive and
intriguing. I must admit your doing quite an impressive job. You are undoubtedly good at what you do.
With that being said, I would like to purchase some of your works as a surprise gift to my wife in honor of our upcoming
wedding anniversary. It would be of help if you could send some pictures of your piece of works, with their respective
prices and sizes, which are ready for immediate (or close to immediate) sales. My budget for this is within the price
    range of $500 to $5000.
I look forward to reading from you in a view to knowing more about your pieces of inventory. As a matter of importance,
I would also like to know if you accept check as a means of payment.
