  • Thanks for yet another great podcast, Jamie. I was particularly stuck by Ian’s different take on the elevator pitch – his approach is more in line with the win-win approach ERG takes with its 1031 Exchange clients. His focus on mutually beneficial outcomes and making the desired end the starting point of all conversations was a refreshingly different slant on a familiar theme. Looking forward to diving into his book.

Thank you for all you do!

All the best to you and your Husband, “the Corporate Juggler”!

  • Loved the interview! I studied Marketing and Sales in college and have been in a sales for over 10 years and I love his idea of getting right down to what they exactly need! Two or three points to get to the main issue at hand. Easy for them to convey and remember. Great interview!

  • Funny comment about juggling during client meetings/presentations! Maybe it will help to break the ice?

  • Great interview! I believe I was already on the right path, but now I am going to be able to take this advice and articulate my thoughts better for my marketing and sales. Thank you for this site, I appreciate having such a valuable resource at my fingertips!

  • This is the 3rd Eventual Millionaire that I’ve ever watched. Super helpful. I can’t wait to implement some of these points when I start selling beer for the brewery I’m trying to start.

  • Great interview with extremely helpful points.

  • As a start up solopreneur i really appreciate all the amazing sales pitch tips in this video. Pleeasse give me one copy of the book. I need to improve my sales techniques.

  • Good evening Jamie, I have to say…wow!!! This interview with IAN was AMAZING. I would have to say that if ever you are to write a 2nd book, you have to make his interview/story/section a first on the list. I am so going to go back and change a handful of things across my network to help mirror the advise he gave to see if it works. I am barely starting out from ground zero, wish me luck, and lets see how things turn out. Thank you oh, so very much for sharing.

    Thanks,

  • Jaime and Ian Excellent interview!!!

Amazing, Amazing approach! Jaime thank you for arranging the interview and Ian thank you for sharing.

I have tremendous respect for Ian’s approach and how it changes the adversarial buyer seller relationship to one of I am here to solve your problems and not just sell you widgets (even if I have a really, really neat widget – lol!).

The 3 core components of executive decision making are superb and the concept of changing the client thought process by asking them about their needs and how they would measure success is incredible.

I loved in Ian’s comments about technology consultant’s websites, something which I totally need to take to heart – LOL!

Great job again and thank you both for sharing such excellent interview.

  • Hi,

Wow my mind was just blown! Flipping from creating your pitch to what problems you can solve the best in the world is just the BEST advice a heard in years. Thinking like this about your business makes selling it not sleazy at all! Now i feel like it’s my responsability to inform as many people as possible what problems we solve!

Ian and Jamie, keep up the mindblowing work!

    Greetings from Belgium,
    Niels

  • Hey Jaime,

it’s a great interview. I just recently discovered your blog, and I’m really impressed – so much great interviews on one place!

Thank you for all the efforts and good luck with becoming a millionaire 🙂

  • Excellent information and I will be putting it into action. I did my first exhibit last weekend, and learned some of this the hard way. Wish I had listened to this last week! My products were/are created to solve a need, so I will focus on that in my sales/content. Keep the great inteviews coming!

  • I enjoyed this episode very much! Finally a approach of selling I can relate to.

  • Jamie, thanks so much for getting this interview out for us! And if there’s an specific reason why I’m so grateful with you and Ian is that as a salesman I hate cold calling and being perceived as non trustworthy. As I seek for online help, a marketer says to me: “grow your email list and provide free valuable content”. Other salespeople teach: “People buy driven by emotions, so you need to learn how to get them hooked”, and I basically interpret that as how to sell without worrying about customer satisfaction or value first, which is a huge mistake I believe. Where Ian truly stood out to me (among many things) is in helping me think: “the reason of the call is to understand your situation and results you want to achieve to determine if we can help”. A beautiful way to put it out as why you care about them first. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration!

  • I was skeptical about another salesperson talking about sales techniques, but was pleasantly surprised by the interview!

Love the focus on value and collaboration e.g. the FIT acronym Ian mentioned (Finding Impact Together). A refreshing alternative to focusing on “getting more”.

The book giveaway is a great example of this. Very win-win-win!

  • Excellent and thought-provoking information. Delivered in a contagious enthusiastic way!
Thanks for making and sharing this interview!

  • Thanks for yet another great interview Jamie. This was very interesting and although I am sure the books mentioned by Ian will provide even more insights, this interview already made me take some notes while listening. Luckily I was stuck in traffic and able to take notes 😉

  • Thank you for teaching. Reverse Elevator Pitch = genius!

  • Love this interview definitely one of my favs!!!! I am running a start-up and I am still learning the business side of making deals. This was super informative. Thanks for all you do. I have been listening to you for the past few months. I stumbled on your interviews via YouTube and I am so glad I did!!!

  • Excellent interview. I hope you have Ian on again.

As someone who has spent the majority of my life in corporate technology sales, it’s always a pleasure listening to a salesperson who truly gets “it”.
