I really enjoyed this interview. It’s always a struggle to recognize and reward employees in a way that matters to them and has the desired business results. I don’t have any employees in the my small business, but I’ve managed small and large teams and learned a lot there. I’ve made all the mistakes and had the privilege of leading an A team.
I do wish I’d heard some of this earlier. It has a lot of ideas that even a manager can consider. They don’t always have control over compensation, but ideas like the book club and daily goals can help to motivate a team.
Some really great concepts. I wish more business owners and managers would apply them. The workplace would be a lot more fun and a lot more rewarding. Of course, if everyone did this, where would the C players work?
Exciting interview I have heard many things about working with employee that I didn’t know about before. Thanks for your program and for the work you do.
That was interesting … “If you can’t fix them, fire them”. I learned this the hard way. Holding on to someone who isn’t focused on the mission and won’t change just because you don’t want to hurt the person’s feelings puts lots of stress on yourself and on the business :/ … If you just had uploaded this episode 2 month ago :-).
