Employee Performance Plan

Do you have an employee performance plan?

Now, what this means is you have employees. Ideally, we want to be able to help those employees the best humanly possible. Whether that means working them out of their current job or role because they're not necessarily good in that specific role, or helping them get better and better at what they do.

Now, I just had a client message me and when he has an employee that's, who knows, I get people doing this to me at the time. I don't know. But then, they do pros and cons and they spin themselves up on what they're working on. 

What the biggest thing you can do, in this case, is to rely on your employee performance plan. So if you already have a process, you already have a way to do this. If you don't, create one right now. If you have a three-strike cut type of rule, if you gave them verbal warning already and then they do a written warning, you're doing the best you can in giving them as much as humanly possible that you can give them, then you just sit back and rely on that. You don't have to go, "What do I do? Where do I go?"

The energy of that gray area of having an employee drains you. It's tough. No owner wants to fire anyone. I understand completely. Way easier for me as a business coach looking in to see the owner spins themselves up. I see it time and time again. 

So, all you can do, at that moment, is rely on the fact that you have that plan already in place, that you made those decisions already in advance, and you let it work itself out.
