Discover More About Me

I love to learn more about the bloggers behind all of my favorite blogs. It helps me realize that they are just people living their lives day to day just like me. I start to feel connected to them. I feel like I want to say:

Hi, you’re one of my favorite bloggers! We are so much alike! Do you want to go out for coffee?’

And of course, in my head, they would say yes, because we know each other and we are so much alike!

But?in reality, they would most likely say no, I don’t know who you are, please don’t?find out?where I live.

I just want to preface my ‘Discover More About Me’ post with, if YOU ever want to go out for coffee with me, I would love to. (My husband is making me put, keep in mind that I am married!)

More About Me

Hi my name is Jaime. I am a wife and mother and in my late twenties. I live in Maine. I love reading, and learning new things. I am a perfectionist and have been obsessed with becoming a millionaire since I was little.

Growing Up

I grew up in a family that didn’t have a lot of money. My mother likes to tell the story that they didn’t have enough money to buy me shoes when I was a baby and started to walk. They taught me the value of hard work though, and to constantly keep learning. I earned my first dollar sweeping the streets of my town during April vacation from 9th grade.

By the Age of 22

Since I had been obsessed with being a millionaire, the day I turned 18 I got my first credit card. I thought the way to a million was a good credit score. (little did I know, debt isn’t a good way to earn money!). I knew that in order to have a good credit score you had to be conscientious and pay your bills on time, so I was more than glad to buy things so I could have bills too. Just like a real adult! My fiancee and I went to live in upstate New York for college, and by then we were in about $55,000 of debt.

Fast forward 2 More Years

We were married and living in NH, with a quarter of a million dollar house and $70,000 in debt. I wasn’t making headway to a million dollars at all. I had a job that paid very well, and I traveled around the country weekly, and didn’t have anything to show for it but debt. The point of realization hit when my husband and I wanted to start a family. I made two-third’s the income and couldn’t quit my job because I had to pay the bills. That meant I would have to be gone Monday through Friday traveling and I wouldn’t be able to see my family. That’s the day that our debt-free journey began.

Now 4 Years Later

My reason why, to be home with my family, trumped all of the obstacles we faced. Now, 4 years later, I have two adorable children ages 3 and 9 months. We now live in Maine closer to our family. My husband and I are home together with the kids more than most families I’ve ever heard of. We work a few days a week doing things we love. I’ve realized that the freedom to choose how I live my life is more important than any new wardrobe, new gadget or new car.

What I realized in these past 10 years, is that it is not about a million dollars. It’s about getting everything else in place – my home, my beautiful family, and my lifestyle. Now that those key pieces are taken care of, I can focus my efforts on the money!
