Design Dates

In business, you probably have Q1, Q2, Q3, your goals are probably pretty gosh darn solid. At least most of us are, because we are really paying attention to that. The thing that I found that's very interesting though, is the personal side. Even though we're overachievers in business, the personal side can sort of get pushed under the rug, as much as humanly possible.

So one thing that I started implementing within the past year, which has been extremely helpful, is I have once a month what I call, "design dates". Now I do this with my boyfriend, but you can do it with whoever, I want to do this with my family starting very, very soon also. But it's going over what we want to do this month, what the goals are.

Now, most of mine are habitual, so they're habits. I want to drink more water, I got my meditation routine down, I want to be doing Egoscue. There's a whole bunch of pieces that I've been doing on the personal side that kind of get forgotten about.

So I just read the book Atomic Habits by my good friend, James Clear, who's amazing. And it just reminded me again how important the personal side of things are. And when I told one of my clients about the design date, they absolutely loved it so I wanted to share it with you also.

It's fun, we usually do it for a brunch on a Sunday morning right before the month actually starts. We check over the month before we check over that month, and we just make sure we're on track. It's fun and exciting and I highly recommend it, 'cause I forward to it every single month.
