Dealing with Employee Mistakes

Mistakes, yea, we all make them, myself included, and one of the tough things about having a team or even children or whatever it is, a relationship, is that when there are lots and lots of mistakes, if something happens, we start to focus on the negative. It's just the way our brains work. We really catastrophize, unfortunately, the negative over the positive. 

So one quick thing that I just wanted to say today is, "How are you treating the mistakes of others?" Are they with empathy and support as you would probably like that, too? Think of the last mistake that you did. You're probably already embarrassed or ashamed that you actually made that mistake, and adding fuel to the fire if someone got mad at you for it, or condemned you for it makes it even worse. And instead, try and treat others as, you know the golden rule, how you want to be treated. 

So think about any time somebody makes a mistake now, today, the next week, how you can respond with empathy and support and really refocus on the amazing grateful aspects that you have of them because they're in your life for a reason. Whether they're an employee, whether they're your kids, whether that's a relationship, they're in your life for a reason, and they are teaching you something. And the way that you treat them is exactly how things will treat you in life also. Just a quick tip, have an amazing day!
